my Integrated Studio Final Project

I love my skirt!!!!!!!

I'm almost done with it, and bascilly it looks like the same  as the result.

My theme is Sea because it is about personal story.

I'm from Taiwan, and it is an island, so it is all about Sea and Ocean:)

I spent a lot of time on them, and they turned out good.

I am so happy with that!!!!!

week 14: Let's go ice-skating!!!

It is in Bryant Park, and one time I was on my way to New York Public Library, I saw there were many people were ice-skating. Actually, I have never tried this activity in my life, so I don't even know how does it feel when I wore the shoes and stood on the ice. Omg.... That sounds exciting to me!!!!! Maybe I would scream all the time or stand on the sides to hold the railings. Even though it seems hard to me to learn, I still believe that ice-skating is gonna be so fun!!!!!!

The Christmas tree is next to the ice-skating area.

And it is really huge(in the picture, there are four people, so you can see the proportion)

Although there is not a lot decoration on the tree, the tree is still has its own life for Christmas!!!

Everyone who was there at that time had the happiest moment in that day.

So did I !!!!!!

week 13: the joyful event

It was in the central park, and there were so many people around to join the performance. Well... maybe it was more like a show that the guy was making HUGE bubbles. They were really big like a little kid's tall. You could see that people who were looking at the guy playing bubbles were with happy smile face.

I think that the reason why I stayed there and joined them. Felt relax....

The bubbles were so adorable!!!! Everyone there was waiting for this joyful moment.

Week12: The Painted Trees

It is getting cold, and it is the time to say good bye to summer.
One sign of the changing season is the golden trees. Leaves are falling down from the trees.
Before they fall, the green leaves turn into golden. How pretty and romantic is that?

Here it is.

The colors are so beautiful.

The thing is that it is a cold weather, but these leaves are warm color: red, yellow, orange...etc

So I feel warm in my mind, and it maked me calm.

I think that is important for people who have a lot of stress.

Even though I just stayed there for five mintues, I felt like I stayed there for five hours.

It was totally surprising me!!! How ramantic it is.

There were many people who like reading, chatting, and relaxing around these trees.

They know it was so comfortable, so they would like enjoying the atmosphere

rather than go find a coffee shop to stay.

I know they made a good decision.

week 11: The wall

I'm interesed in pattern and fabric since I have learned a litle bit about them. As usual, I was walking around Union Square, and once I was looking for things that are interesting, I found the wall of the building. The structure of it is really normal, and there are rectangular windows, and everything is in order. However, I found the difference between the builing and others.

The wall of this building has kind of the dark parts and gradually turns into lighter parts, and it has the gradient color in between. I immediately thought of the fabric with gradient color, and I can use it to make dresses and even use it only as a sleeve. There are a lot of choices to me, and I think it is going to be good!!!!! 

week 10: Silver Status

There are many status around us, and almost all of them are not painted on silver. Therefore, I was surprised that there is one silver status on Union Square. It totally got my attention!!! It is silver, not grey, brown, or white!! So the silver makes the status looks shinny and unique. I think it is really cool.

So I was researching about fashion in silver. I found out silver is really cool in garments! They look like so different and personality. Silver can shows personality very well. We can stand out from other people, and they are going to be cool at the same time!!!!

week 9: Srtipes

 

I like stripes. When I was passing by the Anthropologie cloth store, they were changing their decorations of the store, which is super pretty and easy to be noticed. It was composed by tons of different colors of long plastic lines. Because it was created by plastic lines, it looked shinny, so it gave the whole display volume a lot.  

Then, I thougnt of the designer Henry Holland's new collection for 2012, which is also stripes, but the  point is the stripes are also colorful, not monochroic.Also, the stripes go different directions, so it makes the stripes clothesmore interesting.

 



week 8: Geometric pattern

I think we often see the geometric shapes, patterns, and designs in our daily life. They can be very simple, and also they can be very complicate at the same time. All of these geometric things are so pretty and strong. On the street, there are many railings are geometric shapes, and most of all are repeated the pattern.

They are strong patterns as it repeats. At the same time, for each single part, it has its simple shape: square, round, and rectangular..etc. Since they are all gathered and repeat the same shape. The shape changes. The form changes. It becomes so much complecate pattern.

Sometimes, there are different shapes in the geometric form, and then it gives more design looking as whole piece. I think that makes the pattern more interesting than only repeating the same form.

Same thing in fashion. Many designers are using the geometric shape into their design, which createes totally differnt and complicate patterns. The geometric design can be created in so many ways. Like the above pictre. Also, at the same time, these garments all have their own voice of what they are presenting: clean cutting edge, irregular forms, and extremely complicate patern. I like these designs because they are all well thought-out and modern.

Week7: Accessories in the stores

I love looking for beautiful things especially for fashion. In different shops, they have various pretty accessories, but you still can find the relationships between them, and that really makes me happy because I can find many designs, but same style.

The belts are so cool, and also the way it displays is also simple, but lovely. The blue fabric as the background can let the items stand out more. All of them are similar design which has amazing details.

Another store, but the accessories are similar that have details with, and the background is also simple. Actually, I like the simlple style, so no matter what the items are, I love everything!!!! Also, the details of them are surpriseing me because they look simple but have some extra designs.

Week 6: street performance

Walking on the street is one of my favorite exercising, or you would say it is a habbit. This weekend I went to Soho and Union Square by taking subway, and I noticed that there are different kinds of street performances. Most of them are about music because I think music is the easiest way to gather people around, so I was stop walking and stay for a while to listen.

It was in front of intermix at Soho, and their music was so powerful and joyful. Everyone who passed by would like to stay and listen more songs. They have five people in their groups, four of them sing the songs, and one is palying the violoncello.

I think they were so happy and really enjoy performing their music to people. Their music was also great because the woman sang very well, and the guy was focusing on playing the violoncello. I saw some people were  having a good time to listen the music by their smiling face.



Sep. 24 & 25

A tree keeps changing its outlook every year, and each time it has different looking. Therefore, I think that I can use the idea to create a serious about different color of seasons.

I like the shape because it is related to trees. However, the way it is presented is totally different with trees. It uses the form of tree, but people uses macarons instead of leaves, and I think that is a good idea that using different materials to create a new look. 

Sep. 17 & 18

This window display is from madewell.

I think it is a cool idea that using different color of threads to

present their new collection.

Also, the color works very well with others.

I like the color of macaron, and the color makes me feel comfortable.

The color is not so strong, or even not too bright.

Moreover, I like the way they present it because it looks like a wedding cake,

but it is much cuter than the normal wedding cake. 

Sep. 10 &11

the past weekend I went to topshop in Soho
I noticed that almost all of models have different colors of their lip
and I like the colors against the white face, so the lip stands out!!!!!

when I was walking around the Soho, I found out there are many colorful objects
this purple hot air balloon is so delicate, and I like the way it was displayed.

Sep. 3 & 4

I was wandering on the Aster Place, and there are a lot of art works on the street.
Here is one. It is a utility pole.
I like the red word is standing out from the colorful background!!!

Then, I went to the Union Square weekend market
So many things I would like to buy, but I didn't.....
I love flowers especially sunflowers because they can make me feel happy and optimistic!!!!!!

I like those beautiful little tomato because of the warm color: red, orange, and yellow.

Projects of the Fundation

The fundation of Parsons is meaningful to me because those classes were training my skills, so I improve a lot.

There are 2D, 3D, lab, and drawing calsses, and the 2D was the best class. I say it in this way because I got two As in 2D. haha....

well, the point is I was interested in 2D more than other classes, and that made me want to show my professor how best I could be. Therefore, the interest is important. Now, I'd like to show some my favorite 2D projects.

I love it, and of course my professor like it, actually she wanted to keep this one, but I said no because I want to show my parents in Taiwan. They love it,too!!!

I like simple style, and I think this one is just so my style :)
The ring goes along with the word "promise", and my idea is from engagement.

It is a cool project. I took a hundred pictures to make, and I used watercolor for the background.

If someone asked me which project took me a lot of time, money, and energy, I would say this lovely book.
I remember when I started to work on this project, other students were still thinking about their ideas.......
when I had been to many supply stores, finally they got the ideas or still confused what should they do.....
when I had done several pages, some of my classmates wanted to change their ideas, others just bought materials to try it worked or not........
finally, I was done with my book, and they still had half way to go......
Because I was ahead, my professor asked me to make a box for my book, well, I had time, so why not???
Therefore, only my book had a "extra" box with it, but I was happy for the result, so it's worth. :)

Then, I want to show two of my 3D projects

headpiece
I like the wire flower, and actually it is the second idea.
my professor didn't like the first wire flower (I didn't like it either), so I re-made the flower.

body as theatre
my idea was from wedding dresses, and I exaggerated the hip part.(side view should be much clear tho...)
I love the ribbon on the back :) it helps the whole piece a lot!!!!

The last thing I'd like to share is my drawing work. To be honest, I don't like drawing class so much, and it was such a hard time to me. Fortunately, I have one great drawing work (well... to me, it is my best one > <)
Therefore, I think my weakness is drawing.....

imagination the monster?? was created by my classmates. We made a lot images around 20, and the professor told us to pick one to draw, and we should put them in an usual background, like coffee shop, restaurant, concert...etc.
My is in the sauna.
For this project, I can say I used my best drawing skill...... haha...
